After months of speculation, the original lineup of the British pop trio Sugababes have reunited.
The threesome -- Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy -- made the announcement via Twitter this morning (July 20). The act is named Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
The history of Sugababes -- which has scored six top 10 albums on the Official U.K. Chart and 18 top 10 singles -- is a bit complicated. The group's lineup changes make Destiny's Child's personnel issues in 1999-2000 look like child's play.
Sugababes formed in 1998 with the above-mentioned three singers, but over the years, each left the act for various reasons. In turn, they were replaced with another performer.
Donaghy left first, after her only album with the act -- its 2000 debut, "One Touch." She was replaced by Heidi Range. Buena departed after 2005's "Taller In More Ways" (replaced by Amelle Berrabah) while Buchanan exited following the 2008 set "Catfights and Spotlights" (replaced by Jade Ewen). The current lineup of Range, Berrabah and Ewen have released one album, 2010's "Sweet 7."
Mutya Keisha Siobhan are recording new material, though a release date for a single or album has not been announced. Donaghy told Popjustice.com, "For me, it's the first time in years that I've been excited about even attempting a music project. I'm super excited." Buchanan chimed in, saying, "The minute we sang together, we looked at each other, and we knew. It just worked."
